I'm BACK....

We had a great time in Vegas.... wish I could share but you know... What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!! Really we had a wonderful time. We saw Bette Midler, Jersey Boys and Frank Calleindo, the comedian. We also saw a Vegas show with some very beautiful girls! I enjoyed a hot stone massage and a day at the spa and pool. Those who know me, know that gambling is not really my thing. Or Dave's... we tried. We played some at the crap table, we played some at the roulette table and I played some at the WHEEL OF FORTUNE, my favorite slot machine. BIG MONEY.... remember Jeanette?? I only would do 20 here and 20 there, until the last day when I splurged and put 100 in the WHEEL slot and within minutes I won 150 so guess what I did? I bet you can! Yeah... I walked away with 250! That was it for me... Our anniversary was so nice with dinner and a show... Bette. That woman is 64 years old and still going strong! She did lay down on the stage at one point and said she was so tired. She cried for Cher to be back or better yet for Donny & Marie, who were performing across from Ceasars, to just cross the F...... Street and help her out!! She and Cher rotate the stage every month and a half. Bette was seriously funny. She sang all my favorites... especially Glory of Love. You gotta give, a little, take, a little, and let your poor heart break, a little. Great fun! I think Dave's favorite show was Jersey Boys, it was so entertaining! So we left Vegas on Friday afternoon, having had a fabulously relaxing and enjoyable 30th anniversary week! We wanted to renew vows there, but, darn it, the Elvis and Priscilla costumes were already taken at the chapel. We decided to wait and see if this marriage can last till our 50th before we make such a big commitment with renewing our vows... You just never know what might happen!!!

My little gems came over today... Sarah, Molly and Cayden! I watched the girls while Don and Beckie did some house hunting. They are looking to move further west... where they can have some land with the house! Bridget came to spend the day and rest a little before her 7 pm shift at the hospital. Cayden is sleeping over again since his daddy is still on the mend. Cyle is doing great with his physical therapy and they cut it back to once a week. He sees the Dr. Tuesday for his post op appt. All is going well so far! Cayden had his 15 month check up and the doctor did recommend he have genetic testing for brittle bone disease. His little eyes are still cloudy and his teeth are coming in looking cloudy/darker than they should and the pediatrician feels that this may be a sign he may have the disorder. Bridget and Cyle are so worried and are anxiously awaiting Thursday appt. to get some answers. Read her thoughts here. Say some little prayers for this boy... He is one tough cookie! Check out this picture... Mama says "Put em up"

He loves to watch his Mama and repeat EVERYTHING she says! Cayden has a large vocabulary for a baby his age!!

Sarah and Molly play dress up and dance to the Wicked Soundtrack and until...
they wear themselves completely out!! Rest Period at Meme's!
Happy to be home! Enjoy your weekend!

Oh Gina... wish there was a fun game to the comment. No such LUCK! Just an inside joke about friends of ours, who roll a dice (1) to determine how many times that week they will have.... You guess the rest!! Such craziness! Please keep your kids!!!

Weekend Update

Friday, already?  What a crazy week!  I feel like it just flew by and, I really didn't do that much all week.  We have a busy weekend planned though... Beer and Blues tonight, Westlake's children sale in the morning, Couples Retreat, the movie, tomorrow night, and Cayden on Sunday then... It's off to Vegas....baby!  Wow, I cannot believe that on Tuesday, October 13th, I will be married 30 YEARS!  It's crazy really.  We are lucky.  I am lucky.  I knew it the minute I saw him... I would be lucky to be with him.  When I don't want to kill him, I actually really love him!!!  Funny, isn't it?  It should be.  I think we have laughed more than we cried... and I know we have laughed way more than we fought, we are good together that way.  On Tuesday it will also be their anniversary....
John and Gert... married October 13th,  1951.  We were married October 13th, 1979 - 28 years later.

It will also be their anniversary because they were married on October 13th, 2007 - 28 years after us!

When Bridget and Cyle were picking dates and saw that the 13th was a Saturday, they just couldn't resist.  Then when we realized it had been another 28years, we thought - WOW- that's just meant to be!

Happy Anniversary to everyone!  Wishing many more years to the newlyweds!

Monday, Monday...

Today, Bridget and Cyle came over early to leave Cayden while Cyle had his surgery on his shoulder.  Their little family is staying here for the next 3 days since Bridget works all three nights.  I will take care of Cayden... and Cyle, while she sleeps and works.  Surgery went well, and the block they used to numb Cyle is just wearing off now... at about 10 p.m. and we are hoping the pain killers start to work soon.  He says it is very painful and just so uncomfortable.  His ligament was torn completely off so it was a pretty big repair.  Let's hope the night goes by quickly for him.

Here are some cute shots I took today of my gems... This is Bridget and her boy!
Isn't he just so sweet... I want to eat him up!  Love that he calls me NeNe....

Did I mention that the Wilkinson's also brought their dog Rowdy to stay with us too?  Well Sarah was really taken with Rowdy this visit.  She can now carry him around and she treated him like her little baby all day long!  She asked her Mommy if he could have a sleepover at their house and Beckie said YES!  Sarah was so very excited!  Rowdy was too!!
I had just the best time in Franklin this past weekend with Roxi and Rick!  We went to the Applefest and found a lady who makes adorable hats and headbands and of course I could not resist and bought a few for my gems!!
Happy to be me... how about you?

What to wear?

I did a little shopping today for Sarah! We decided to have a fashion show and Molly joined right in too!    And who can have a fashion show without princess shoes on?

Knee socks were a BIG Hit!
Check out this picture... Molly is standing still but just look at Sarah... or what's left of the spinning cyclone!!

Molly may actually be posing now for pictures!!

That, my friends, makes this Meme a very happy girl!  When it was all said and done, two very tired little models fell fast asleep in Meme's bed!

Hope your weekend is wonderful!

Lunch Dates!

Today Dan went to school and picked up Sarah!  She was so surprised to see Uncle Dan at school!  Donny brought Molly over too, for lunch and we had a really nice lunch date.  Sarah looked really cute with her little headband in her hair....
well, for a while anyway.  Here she is sporting a newer look and riding her sisters little bike!
She is a funny, funny girl!
Bridget and Cayden came over too!  Cayden is getting so big!  He is talking up a storm!  He loves to walk around the furniture and he loves his girly cousins too!  Molly loves to give him high fives, but Cayden would prefer a kiss~  "No Way," says Molly.  "He slopers"
I got a nice surprise in the mail today!  A card from Kelley and Tegan!  They are so thoughtful!  Thanks to my darlings in Colorado for thinking of me!!  I love and miss you both... so much!  Teg, I wish I could post that video... you have to email it to me,  OK???

"Is there a troll living under your bridge?"

I was subbing at school again yesterday, so Beckie asked if I would take Sarah to her 4 year checkup at the peds offfice.  No shots... just a well visit to have the medical for school signed off.
To get to the building you must cross a bridge.  Once in the little room, the doctor came in and Sarah asked the question, the one weighing heavy on her mind since we crossed that bridge.  Dr. Schollenberger told Sarah she had seen ducks, geese, and maybe a turtle or two, BUT never a troll!  Big smile for Sarah...  on to the exam.  I was really proud of her this time!  Since her mom is a school teacher, she can't always make these appts and I remember taking Sarah last year.  At 3, your mind just goes to the shots!  You cry, your scared, and boy was she!!  No matter how many times I told her NO SHOTS... at 3, your not listening to a thing anyone says, your are just watching for the needle!  She was asked to draw a square, something she could do at 3... no way.  Draw a picture of a person, yep, she could, but no way.  Say your ABC, oh yeah, but, again, no way!  This year was such a different, pleasant experience!! Sarah did not stop talking.
Dr.- Can you count?
Sarah- Oh I can count all the way to 100!
Dr. -Can you draw this?  (She draws a square)
Sarah- I don't really think so, I'll try... (Sarah draws a square)
Dr.- Draw a person please.
Sarah- Sure! (draws a stick figure)
Dr.- Who is that person?
Sarah- (takes pencil back and writes) SARAH  B
Dr.- WOW that's a first!!  No one ever just writes the answer to my question!!!

Now those of you who know Sarah well, know that she is really kinda smart.  She is "hooked on phonics" and doing some reading, she writes everything.  She spells out words in the car to have you guess them.  Really clever in so many ways... just one question you might have?  The B- not her middle initial, she knows she is a Rose, not her last name initial, she knows she is a Walton.

Meme- what is the B for Sarah?
Sarah- nothing... I can just make them really good now!
Oh, and the troll thing?  "I just really wanted to see one!!"

This girl is ready for Kindergarten next year, for sure!!
