Weekend at Holliday Lakes

We spent the weekend out in Williard, Ohio at the old family cottage!  Nothing old about the place since Mike and Sue have added on to the main house.  We had a great time around the campfire on Friday night and on Saturday, we enjoyed boating on the lake!  Sarah went tubing with her Mommy for the first time, and she loved it!!

I took some cute pictures...what a surprise... of the girls and Cayden!  Sometimes, they just take my breath away ... Not only because they are beautiful, but more than that, they are just the sweetest, most loving little ones ever!!

Big Fun!

We had big fun at Roxi's yesterday!!  Working the garage sale.  I know, it doesn't sound much like fun but when you are together with friends, there is always fun!!  Roxi brought out her antique carriage for the girls to keep busy... they took turns pushing their "babies" up and down the sidewalk!

I watched in wonder and thought to myself...

Molly will be forever "chasing" her big sister.  Molly wants to do everything Sarah does!  Since it will forever be just the two of them, one will always be the leader, strong and determined ready to teach the younger one.  And one will be the follower, just as strong and determined, and ready to learn by following!  I just love these two precious girls!

GG a.k.a. Marlene... called GG since all she wants in life is grandkids and granite...of which she has neither... was there for the fun too!  She loves spending time with my gems and I love to share them!  Beckie was off to the dentist so the girls came for a couple of hours and Cayden's mom, Bridget was home resting for her 7pm to 7am shift at Fairview Hospital ER, so Cayden was there too! Cayden enjoyed army crawling on the grass for the first time. He really did not like it at first but Roxi got right down there with him and soon enough he going all over the place!  Look at his first reaction...

On a side note... Can I just say there are so many fun bloggers!!  It is so fun to "meet" people/friends this way!!  One of my newest "friends" shared this today!!  Go see it for yourself!! Its adorable.

You Capture...ME? WHAT??

This week challenge, and I do mean challenge was :You Capture...YOU!   Wow, this was really hard because I do not like to see myself in photos.  What were you thinking Beth? Oh well, here goes...

Here I am...  Holding the camera for this one... too funny!

Now the rest were taken by others...
Laughing with my buddy Cayden on his first birthday!

With Roxi's daughter Missy... who as a young child caught me putting money under her pillow for a tooth and said "Diana, are YOU the tooth-fairy?"  Busted!!

More with my little Cayden... who loves his Meme, no matter what!
And lastly, a group shot of some really sweet babes in arms ...  mine!   So I know I am not alone in the feelings I have about pictures of myself.  Why do we feel this way?  I know my friends see my personality when they look at me, and really that's what I want them to see!

Hooked on...

Sarah is hooked on phonics! This girl loves to read! She is so proud of herself when she gets to the end of the story she is reading!
Beckie has been working with her everyday and Sarah is just loving it.  She has always been a big fan of books.  Sarah loves to be read to and will always ask to read some books when she is here.

Now, she can do it herself!  I am so proud of her.

Not to be outdone by her big sister, Molly is working hard to get "HOOKED" herself!!

So what if she is hooked UP side DOWN??

Let's Go Fly A Kite...

Sarah and I went to see Mary Poppins today at the State Theatre... it was FABULOUS!  Sarah really enjoyed seeing the Chimney Sweep Dance and Mary Poppins flying right up and out of the theatre!  Miss Linda Mae bought Sarah a present... a sweet little glass giraffe since Sarah collects giraffes and gave it to her on the way to the show. Thanks Lin, you are so very sweet!  We had a fun time.  Sarah really enjoys the shows I take her too and she is so well behaved that I am beyond proud of her when we are there!  Have a happy day... tomorrow is a big day: Tegan's Birthday!

Friday~ The winds of change are a blowing...

It's true.  Times change.  Things change.  Places change. People change. OR do they?  Not MY people... we stay the same.  Our friends stay the same.  We may choose to MOVE, choose to change... but we also choose to stay in touch.  We have deep connections to each other.  Our children grew up together, our lives forever became entangled.  It is a beautiful mess of baptisms, birthday parties, clambakes, graduations, game nights, bridal showers, weddings showers, weddings, baby showers, desperate housewives trips, guys golfing trips,  and the list goes on and on.  And so will we!  Things may be a little different, but different isn't bad, different can be exciting!  We are excited for our friends... life is to short to be torn into so many directions.  Decisions are made to make things less complicated.  Bay Cedar Drive and Camp are excellent places to visit and besides... who among us doesn't have a guest bedroom??  Rick and Roxi... I love you guys!

Remember these?

So when I was a little girl, back on West 67th street, we used to play in "rompers".  Well, my mom called them that, not sure if that's an official name.  They were one piece, elastic at the waist, and you tied them at the shoulders.  This look was quite fashionable, and if you look closely, you will see that it could also be worn with a nice white undershirt!!  Seriously...

Yes... here I am in all my glory.  The year was 1961 and the backyard was the place to be... bricks? and all.

Wow ... a few years later and we are still looking sharp in our "rompers"... matching ones... could this get any worse?   That is my sister, Frankie on the left, and yes, me on the right!  I have absolutely no idea who that is in the middle!  Will you look at the glasses... what was my mother thinking?  At least we don't have on undershirts!  So, I am shopping recently at Target, and I come across this little item.  I can't resist and I buy it for Molly.
She wears it well, don't you think??
What do you remember wearing that has come back to haunt you?
